Maria Roy

Info

As an attempt to familiarise herself with the ancient practice of beekeeping and to explore the interspecies relationship between humans and bees, Maria gathered materials from the woods of south London (Clay, willow and straw), weave a basket sealed with mud to make a beehive.

The Beehive was made for the “Soul Retrieval” an open-air exhibition and gathering celebrating spring back curated by Ralph Parks.

The inspiration came from @apian.ch Hives book, a fascinating archive of beehives, 2400 B.C.E- 1852 C.E.
